Ugh. See, this is what I don't understand. Do the right thing from the get go. Don't shoot first and ask questions later with your users' trust. Sure, they might be fixing this problem now, but the damage has already been done and will take a long time to rebuild, if at all. No better than Mozilla with their ad experiment. I can scratch Brave off the list of alternatives (not that I was considering using it anyway).
