Is there something like a black gas that effectively absorbs light rather than scattering it, or is it just impossible without more density?

@miles I suppose it would be good enough if it could move through the air, but that would usually mean a gas. I'm on a list now, aren't I?
@scionicspectre we are all on lists, and the moment we start fearing the list, the list controls us. The "list" only derives its power from the fact that people fear it, so in that way we ourselves are in complete control. A short and ineloquent commentary on suspicionless surveillance.
As for dark gases floating through air: don't do anything stupid. Violence is never the answer. ever.
