Mastodon offers 500 characters, but it feels like everyone is still using Twitter styling and abbreviations for their toots. We have room to articulate! We have room to breathe!
We should use it. No need to resign to Twitter's culture, we should build our own.
@projektir I'm open to alternatives — got any ideas?
@miles you could, like, not cut it in half? :D
@projektir but then it'd be no fun! :)
But really — have suggestions? I just want something insteresting
@miles Heh.
Huh, well, that can be a complex question (as you can see I don't even have an avatar, and I probably won't for a long time because what I want is not something I'd be able to find on the internet).
Generally, avatars represent something about the person, or something they like. I don't really know anything about you, though, so it'd be difficult for me to make any kind of sensible suggestion. :P
@projektir @miles Yeah, I'm a block color because I prefer aesthetics in avatars. I hope that people discover me through what I say and not interpret a picture.
@TheDistinction @miles I tend to make avatars for myself, not for others, so I like them to mean something to me. :relaxed:
@miles @projektir Why not just a block M or P?
@miles Heh, I like this choice.
@projektir it's literally just a screenshot off my site (https://rmrm.io) but I'm glad you like it!
@miles Your avatar bugs me aaaaaa
