My timeline is a bizarre medley of technical rambling, cute anime girls, highly diverse discussions about politics, people talking about shows and movies, and discussions of a far more personal nature. And shitposting.

We did it! WE REPLACED TWITTER COMPLETELY.

@deadsuperhero and all without open hostility toward the userbase or third-party developers! take that, Jack!

@djsundog I mean, there's some hostility between the userbases of different server implementations. But that's to be expected.

@deadsuperhero sure, but over in birbland I have felt attacked by the very platform itself.

@deadsuperhero and instead of a walled garden, we got a common we built together: the Fediverse <3
@kimmie @deadsuperhero well he was refering to the fediverse I think, not mastodon alone

@marsxyz @deadsuperhero yeah when I say Mastodon that's what I mean 😛. I knew about GNUSocial beforehand, but Mastodon was where I actually bothered to sign up and make an account haha

@deadsuperhero your timeline dont include unsolicited gay porn? how do you managed to avoid that on fdvrs?

@deadsuperhero In Masto there is one component missing.

In fact I'm beginning to get a feeling that I'm calling "trollstalgia".

If it reproduced twitter then I say it failed.

@deadsuperhero @angristan Not until the people I follow and who follow me have moved.

Your are dreaming! As @mangeurdenuage said, reproducing Twitter would be a failure by itself. On the other hand, there is a wide range of things not seen here at the fediverse: Lot of NGOs, advocacy groups and activist. I see no environmental medicine posts her, no activists or journos from Syria, no scientific journals, no authorities and the Berlin S-Bahn or the highest German Court too do not use the fediverse. They use Twitter. At least I'm happy that Trump does not use the fediverse.

@vegos @mangeurdenuage I'm being at least a little facetious. Even then, a suitable replacement of something does not necessarily capture and exactly model the entire user community of that which it competes with.
